Monopoly supposed to be a simulation of gilded-age capitalism, hence the name. On one hand, some subreddits was doing it's thing and tearing people who criticize it apart. That being said, there was a lot of reactionary antics coming from both sides of the spectrum. It all felt like a really botched attempt to pander to the mainstream media. I was a tad insulted by it, and I'm neither a female, nor do I consider myself a "feminist". The forced feminist message and pandering branding left a really sour taste in my mouth.
